The Soul Mate print features as its central image a Star known as the Seal of Soloman; two equal-sided triangles which intersect to form a perfect six-pointed Star. Associated with Judaism, it is nevertheless a symbol older than Religion itself. |
|
|
To the Ancients, it represented the union of male and female, yang and yin in which was expressed the One. The down-pointing triangle symbolises the male concept, the upturned triangle symbolises the female. The Star is a beautiful representation of the idea of the Twin Soul, the other half of us (reflected in the partner but known only within the Self), ever-present a the fleeting glimpse of light we know occasionally if we turn quickly enough to catch its twinkling luminous presence. |

In
John O'Donohue's book, the 'Anam Cara', or Soul's friend is captured by
the spirit of this symbol. The lilacs, blues and reds of the imagery
represent the need for both passive/ receptive as well as active/dynamic
qualities within the partnership, in order to create a space for
Knowledge and Understanding to come. The
astrological positions of the Sun and Moon at the date and time of the
Wedding hint at the meanings of the inner and outer self, and how they
attempt to live side by side to bring about Wholeness. |
