How Square Moon Originals are brought to life...

Beginning with the time, date and place of birth of the person for whom the Square Moon original has been commissioned, I look at the birth horoscope and the most outstanding astrological themes are identified - sometime there are only a few and sometimes lots....

I spend quite a lot of time with the chart, using the planetary positions, aspects and groupings to get a feel for a person's energy.

Over time (I usually keep coming back over three or four days) an image or colours kind of emerge as being important and eventually a design or theme evolves: it has to be said that this is a very 'unscientific' process- but it is a process of sorts and the only one that seems to work!

 

 


 

The picture itself is then "woven" together into a collage effect, using gorgeous handmade papers.

 

The person's astrology is then hand-written into the picture and mount.

I aim for a dream-like result: the pictures are meditative in some ways and hopefully I can create something for each person that's meaningful to them and has the nice effect of them finding something new each time they read it.but always reflecting the innate individuality and soul-essence of the person.  

Each Square Moon original is accompanied by a hand-made booklet explaining the particular origin of the design and the story of the person's "inner landscape" that inspires and informs the images.
